Agile Transformations are often treated as projects, with grand plans to implement blueprints or new ways of working, with ambitious deadlines. This approach assumes that the result of an Agile Transformation can be knowable in advance and that all the information and expertise is already in place. However, an organisational transformation, just like product development, is a process of knowledge discovery and learning, where we need to make small changes, sense and respond. Thus rather than looking into the future to make our plans, we should look to the present, understand the current situation and explore adjacent possibilities. This talk will examine what it means to realise an Agile Transformation in an agile way, and how that can be achieved.

Leading an organization is not easy. You want to always be learning, improving and innovating. We have been told since young that we need to learn from the success of others. So we go and search what Google, Facebook, Microsoft, Apple… and all the big successful companies do. We tell our people that we want to do what they are doing and achieve what they are achieving.

But have we ever stopped to think “Whom did these big successful companies learn from?” Did they hire someone that gave them ideas that nobody had heard of before? Did they read a book that revealed secrets? Did they pay a lot of money to a consulting company that created a framework just for them and told their employees what culture they needed to have?

You know none of this is true. So let’s look into how to learn from our own people and lessons.

On the other hand we understand that achieving all the said aspects is possible only when we as individuals focus on us. So how can we do this? How do we know as people in a team, are we trustworthy, are we capable, are not we being imposters at times, do we have that courage and openness to do great things and influence people in a positive manner. These behaviors in turn change the culture of an organization and hence better workplaces.
